Headcount is proud to support the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK
Bobby Moore captained England to World Cup glory in 1966. In 1993, he tragically died of bowel cancer aged just 51. The Bobby Moore Fund was then established by Stephanie Moore MBE, in partnership with Cancer Research UK. The charity has raised over £10 million for research into bowel cancer. The fund also works to raise awareness of the high risk symptoms of bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer accounts for one in eight new cancer cases in the UK. It is the second most common cause of cancer death. If detected early, over 90% of cases of bowel cancer can be successfully treated. Around two-thirds of cases could be prevented by changes to lifestyle e.g. taking exercise, maintaining a healthy body weight and eating a healthy diet.
