An exciting opportunity has arisen to take on the role of Head of Retail Risk management in a fast-paced office in beautiful Vienna.

The new Head of Retail Risk Management will be responsible for implementation of effective risk management framework for identification, assessment, management and monitoring of risks arising from existing and future consumer banking product offerings. This position will also partner with first line of defence, and give direction to colleagues in the regional operational centers to ensure that effective processes are in place to design, manage, monitor and respond to risk issues.

Role responsibilities:

  • Shape the business consumer banking risk strategy and risk appetite and its implementation through adequate set of risk limits and targets

  • Drive creation of effective risk management framework for identification, assessment, management and monitoring of risks arising from existing and future commercial banking product offerings

  • Contribute to the development of the effective fraud monitoring framework and execute effective oversight for outsourced elements. Understanding of fraud engine scoring and rules, leverage on specific actual and potential fraud patterns to continuously evolve fraud detection and prevention capabilities, drive enhancements to continuously increase consumer and fraud protection

  • Define efficient internal controls for commercial banking and ensure this is adequately implemented within internal centers of competence involved into the delivery of end-to-end risk activities

  • Permanently assess risks connected with consumer banking offerings and define adequate risk management response plans

  • Define and execute adequate scenario analysis and stress tests and ensure they are considered in definition of plans for continuous operational resilience

  • Develop comprehensive set of key performance and risk indicators to support fact based decisions and provide reports to internal and external stakeholders

  • Promote and support culture of operational risk awareness as sources of continuous improvement of service for the benefit of the customer

  • Undertake training on consumer risk management framework

  • Member of the Risk Committee

Education and qualifications:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in Retail / Consumer Risk Management in a banking or financial services environment; experience in digital banking is strongly desirable

  • A university degree in Finance or Business (or equivalent) or relevant professional qualifications

  • Fluency in English (oral and in writing); fluency in German is is strongly desirable but not condition

  • Experience of a matrix organization in an international environment

  • Excellent computing skills with all common office programs
